What are we going to do about touring?

Touring is the backbone of the performing arts in the UK, and right now it's under more pressure than most of us have ever known.

Rising costs. Funding cuts. Shrinking venue networks. A widening gap between what's commercially viable and what's artistically and socially necessary.

We could spend all day listing the problems. We already know them.

What we don't have—yet—is an answer.

This is your invitation to start building one together.

On Saturday 1 August, as part of our Equitable Touring Conference at Royal Central, we're handing the day over to a Devoted & Disgruntled Satellite event, facilitated by Improbable using Open Space Technology. No keynote. No panel. No pre-set agenda. Just the question that's been circling the sector for years, put to the people who live it:

What are we going to do about touring?

If you were part of Day One's panels and presentations, this is where those conversations become something usable. If you're joining us fresh, you're just as welcome. You don't need a position paper. You don't need credentials. You just need a stake in the future of touring and a willingness to be part of the conversation.

Touring won't be reshaped by one organisation, one policy, or one conference. It will be shaped by the people who make it happen: artists, producers, presenters, venues, funders and audiences, deciding together what comes next.
