Whoever you are, how ever young or old, whatever your background, come move, dance, discover and explore!

Welcome to Improbable Moves - a playful, accessible movement class, open to all ages- from seven to seventy and beyond – and suitable for all levels of experience, from the nervous and new, to the seasoned and confident dancer.

Drawing on such diverse practices as contemporary and new dance, contact improvisation and physical theatre, the classes will include exercises and games, partner, group work and solo exploration, and most of all JOY in whatever range of movement is available to you. Be prepared to be surprised by what you can do!

Parents are encouraged to attend with their children; children are encouraged to bring along their parents or grandparents. This will be an intergenerational class, celebrating each stage of life, and the dancing that is possible within it. It will be taught in a flexible and open way that accommodates different kinds of minds as well as different kinds of bodies. Neurodivergent learning styles are welcome.

Classes will be held by Matilda Leyser with occasional guest teachers. Matilda has over forty years experience as a mover, and over thirty as a teacher and facilitator. She has trained as a dancer, an Alexander Technique teacher, a circus aerialist, an actor, and writer.

(This class will form part of a wider project Matilda is developing called Lifelines, which supports people from different ages and stages to tell their life stories in movement and words.)
