Improbable Turns 30
In 1996, we started with a roll of Sellotape and an empty space.
Since then, we’ve stretched that roll of tape out, through numerous rehearsal rooms, shows, the West End, and as far the Met Opera in New York. We couldn’t have planned this – we’ve followed where the tape lead.
We’ve spent three decades not knowing where we will go next. And guess what? We still don’t know the answer - which is why we are still going! Our 30th year isn't just a look back at the archives, it’s a commitment to the ongoing, improbable conversation….

The Future Practice - We’re looking for 300 Improbable People
Our work – with improvisation at its heart – is co-created by the people who show up for it. We are looking for 300 of you to become Improbable People – to join our community of support. No tiers, no "gold memberships", just 300 of you holding the space with us, seeing where we will go next....
Become one of the Improbable People
If you want to be part of the sticky tape of the company, join us here on a pay-what-you-can basis. You’ll get invitations to discussion groups, monthly dispatches from our archives and glimpses into our current process.

Have an Improbable Birthday!
Celebrating a birthday? Don’t know what presents to ask for? Share your birthday with us! Have an "Improbable Birthday" by asking for donations to the company in lieu of gifts. We’ll give you a campaign page, some digital "decorations," and the deep satisfaction of knowing you’re funding the next generation of puppets, performers, and "what-ifs"…

Step into the Heart of the Work
For those who want to connect more deeply with our 30th anniversary season, we are hosting a series of invite-only, private gatherings. These are spaces to discuss the philosophy of our upcoming productions and the long-term vision for the company’s practice. If you are interested in supporting our work at a higher level and would like to join these conversations, please email Anna at anna@improbable.co.uk.
The Deep Work - We’re supporting 30 artists
From the early days of 70 Hill Lane to the present, our heart has always been with the maker. This year, we are supporting 30 artists in a deep, sustained way, giving them the time and space to fail, fly, and find the next big idea.
We’re also welcoming people who have been part of our 30 year history to share their birthday messages.
[The videos will be available here - check back for updates.]

The Shared Breath - We’re reaching 30,000 audiences
Whether you’re in a 2,000-seat house or a small circle in a community hall, the work only exists when you see it. This year, we will share a moment of wonder with 30,000 people across our productions.
